An evening organised by the SOAS Rebetiko Band at the Cockpit Theatre, Gateforth Street , NW8 8EH (off Lisson Grove and Church Street). A seminar about Greek rebetiko music will precede the concert at 18:30 with free admission and open to all. The doors will open at 19:15 for the concert and jam session. A batch of really interesting songs that the SOAS Rebetiko Band has been working on will be performed. Furthermore, in the light of the tragic events of the past week in Greece, the plan is that the final part of the evening will create a musical space in which everybody can reflect on these events, and maybe sing a few songs that are appropriate to the moment.
