Sybil Thorndike was a great actress of the twentieth century with a very wide range but renowned for roles in Greek tragedy and as St Joan. She also led a remarkable life offstage, as suffragette, pacifist and socialist - as well as her friendships with Laurence Olivier, Edith Evans, Bernard Shaw and many others. In this talk biographer Jonathan Croall describes his seven-year quest to find the remarkable woman behind the great actress. The talk will take place at the Art Workers Guild, 6 Queen Square, London WC1. For further information click here.
