An original adaptation of Euripides' (428 BC) play directed by George Rodesthenous which translates the action into a contemporary working-class amateur boxing club. According to David Blunkett, "the decipline of amateur boxing training can give young people the chance to keep fit, learn sportsmanship and self-disipline". Hippolytus combines re-worked text with physical theatre and music to present a fresh and exciting perspective on desire, guilt and human injustice. Venue, Stage@Leeds, Box office 0113 343 8730.
