The Oxford Greek Play Agamemnon by Aeschylus is a story of sacrifice, treachery and adultery and it is as powerful and as relevant today as it was at its premiere in 458 BC. At its heart stands the shocking murder of the Mycenean King Agamemnon by his wife, Clytemnestra. Performed in the original ancient Greek and recreating the diverse elements of Greek tragedy often forgotten today, this production integrates original music, dance and mask to create a unique theatrical experience. A programme of additional events, including introductory lectures, sessions for schools, workshops and symposia will complement and enrich the experience for all. Performed in Greek with English surtitles. The venue is Oxford Playhouse, for bookings, dates and exact times please click here.
